BASTROP, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Update: Police say the murder victim is a 79-year-old male and a life-long resident of Bastrop.
The victim's car was apparently taken during the crime and left about a mile from his home. Police are executing search warrants at Wayne McCready's home located 5736 Matheny Drive.
A neighbor checking on McCready discovered his body this morning.

Authorities in Bastrop are investigating an apparent murder which occurred there this morning.
According to the Sheriff's department, deputies were called to a home on Matheny Drive in Bastrop, where they reported finding Wayne McCready dead.
McCready's next of kin have been notified and deputies are currently talking with family and friends as part of an active investigation. Also, State Police crime scene technicians are also reported to be en route to the scene.
