BASTROP, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A man is dead after a shooting in Bastrop. Morehouse Parish Sheriff Mike Tubbs confirms 48 year old David Hale has died as a result of his injuries.
The fatal shooting happened about 5 miles north of Bastrop. Deputies say it all happened at the intersection of US Highway 425 and Milton White Road Sunday evening.
Robert Todd Curtis of Bastrop, has been charged with one count manslaughter and is booked to the Morehouse Parish jail.
According to the sheriff's office, Curtis went to his home after pulling the trigger and called the police to confess. Curtis says he shot the victim after Hale and another man confronted him.
Because this has been determined by police to not be a pre-meditated murder, Curtis will be charged with manslaughter.
Bond has not been set for Curtis, and he is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday at 9:30am.
