Police: Saturday night Monroe shooting

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The investigation is on after a shooting in Monroe. It all happened around 7 Saturday night on the 2800 Block of Calypso Street, near South 28 Street. We're told one person was shot. Medical crews rushed the injured person off to the hospital. No word on how that person is doing or whether the injuries are life threatening. A neighbor said he had been hearing shots fired throughout the area all month.

"In the course of a month, we've been hearing gun shots. You know what I'm saying pop, pop, pop. Sometimes three, and just tonight," John Monson said. "I happened to come outside, my wife was getting ready to go to the grocery store and I looked around and didn't hear anything. The next thing you know, I hear all the police cars coming down the street."

No arrests have been in made in this shooting.

The shooting victim's name has yet to be released. Monroe police say more information will be available Monday morning about this incident.
