Shoppers flock to Antique Alley on Small Business Saturday

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Locally-owned businesses across Ouachita Parish are seeing an increase in customers on Small Business Saturday.

"They come in big spurts," says Lucy Brantley of Cricket Beaux Bicket, "It'll be ten people in here at one time, then none for about five or ten minutes, then a lot will come in all at the same time."

Lucy Brantley owns a children's shop in Antique Alley with her family and with the big crowds she's seen, she can tell people care about their community.

"None of these are chain stores, and they know local people own it, and we put our money back into the community," says Brantley.

Hundreds of customers visited stores along Antique Alley, and many of them are also small business owners.

"For the small businesses, to honor them, and we shop down here because it brings a lot back to the old town because they've gone away they go out to the mall," says Patricia "PJ" Bryant.

Bryant owns her own limousine service in Monroe, and shops small to bring life back to into her community that she loves.

"It's better to give from within, and that's the best donation, is to shop within your own little community," Bryant says.

Bryant and her friends are going home with some new purchases, and some new pride for the small business community that they are helping support.
