Long delays at Airports across the US

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - It's the busiest travel day of the year not just on the road, but in the air. Airports across the country are experiencing delays leaving some passengers spending the holiday in the terminal.

Smaller airports like Monroe Regional have had a smooth day of about 500 passengers passing through, but Flight Tracker reports long delays at most of the major airports.

Long lines mean slower departures, creating a ripple effect across the nation. Houston, Dallas and Denver are all experiencing delays.

Denver International has an average of a million passengers this day each year.

The New Orleans Airport is encouraging people to double and triple check their luggage before arrival, to avoid any extra delays.

High traffic isn't the only issue, fog in the Northern US is causing a nationwide back up. Some passengers in Chicago, will be spending Thanksgiving at the airport.
