UPDATE: West Carroll resident dies in small plane crash

OAK GROVE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - The son of a former West Carroll Sheriff has been killed in a small plane crash in West Carroll Parish. According to Sheriff Jerry Philley, the crash occurred about 10 miles Northwest of Oak Grove.

The pilot, 68-year-old Randy Capers is reported to have been the only person on board the plane and there were no other injuries reported as a result of the crash.

The aircraft the victim was flying is an experimental plane, more commonly know as an EAA aircraft, usually a "home-built" plane.

The victim's father was the West Carroll Parish Sheriff in the 1960's.
