BASTROP, La., (KNOE 8 News) - A organization has been formed in Northeast Louisiana to increase awareness about EDS and OI (Also known as Brittle Bone Disease).

There's a family in Bastrop which has four children, all suffering from EDS, as is their mother.

According to a founder, Stacey Mewborn, "About 15 weeks ago, the mother contracted West Nile Virus which in return turned into Viral Meningitis.  She was only allowed 18 days in the hospital and is still suffering from the infection every day.  Their dad, has not been able to work in over 9 weeks due to his wife's illness."

So the group has organized a benefit called Little Angels Christmas Pageant.  It will be held at PVA on Dec 8th starting at 2:00 pm. Mewborn adds, "We are trying to not only help this family but help others that might have the same need as theirs.  We are not only taking the proceeds from the pageant to help this family but are looking for anyone that might have an interest in making an open donation as well."
