MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - In officially announcing the appointment today, the Mayor said, "Just as we did with our Downtown Economic Development District, I am proud to say we are appointing someone to serve as a liaison between the City of Monroe and the Southside Economic Development District. With a direct link to Monroe City Hall, we anticipate multiple successful projects."
While taking on these added responsibilities, Smith will continue to serve in his role as Keep Monroe Beautiful Executive Director.
Smith added, "With the support of Mayor Mayo and the Monroe City Council, in addition to other public-private partners we are seeing great things happen in downtown Monroe. Our goal will be to try to mirror that success by bringing residents, business & property owners, developers, and entrepreneurs to the table, and creating projects that will spur the synergy needed to accomplish true revitalization in South Monroe."
