MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Three local families are getting more than a pat on the back for overcoming challenges during military service. This is the first year Wellspring Alliance for Families has given out the outstanding individual families awards to the relatives of veterans. The group says the families also value giving back to the community. Award Recipient Brett Bennett says the award is even more special on the observed Veteran's Day.
"The things that veterans have had to pay, the things that they had to experience and deal with whenever they serve in order so that our country could remain free, words don't describe it. Words don't do it justice," Bennett said.
The three families will,each,get a brick in their honor at the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum.
