FARMERVILLE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A Union Parish man is free on bail after being arrested on drug and weapons charges. Deputies say 42-year-old Monorego Watson was taken to jail Thursday after a traffic stop near Bernice. The sheriff's office says Watson had 31 grams of Marijuana, 10 Xanax tablets and three hydrocodone pills along with a firearm. Deputies say Watson is a convicted felon and should not have been carrying a gun. Watson was released from jail on a $26,000 bond.
His passenger, deputies say, 17-year-old Courtney Davis, was booked for simple possession of Marijuana and has a $1,500 bond.
According to the sheriff's office, some of the drugs and a pistol were recovered along a stretch of roadway. Law enforcement said those items were tossed out the car window before the initial traffic stop.
