WEST MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - The West Monroe Police Department is seeking your help in identifying whoever is involved in a rash of Damages to Property incidents which occurred at businesses along Cypress Street in West Monroe earlier this week.
The unknown suspect or suspects have been seen traveling in an unknown vehicle in the 3400 block of Cypress St. during the evening hours, firing what is believed to be a BB-gun at glass storefronts as they pass, shattering them.
The suspects have committed this act on numerous businesses within the city limits of West Monroe along with Ouachita Parish.
It's against the law to discharge an "Air Powered" gun within the city limits of West Monroe, anyone found guilty of this crime can be sentenced to a maximum of six months in jail and a $500.00 fine or both for each instance,
It's also against the law to intentionally damage any property of another. Simple criminal damage to property can be punished by up to five hundred dollars but less than fifty thousand dollars, for more severe crimes, an offender would be fined not more than one thousand dollars or imprisoned with or without hard labor for not more than two years, or both.
