After The Election, What is left to be done?

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Many people think elections are over once the polls close; but that isn't the case for many state groups some are still counting ballots.

Ballot counting, paper work, and commissioner pay roll is still left to be completed after Tuesday night's election for the Ouachita Parish Clerk of Court's Office.

Some questions are left unanswered for many of you.

One big question why were there long lines at some of the polls?

Ouachita Parish Clerk of Court, Louise Bond says, "they're you know divided up by the legislature by the number of voters that is strictly done by the legislature some precincts may have 2,000 some may have 300, the lines were long but we anticipated that but I think overall I think the commissioners did a great job to get everybody in and out as fast as they could."

Once the polls were closed, early voting numbers weren't tallied, and were some of the latest numbers coming in.

Bond says, "I think it was over almost 1300 mail in ballots, and it's a long process we were there, we were there all day long and part of the night so it was a long process but we got it done and we did get it reported before we left here last night."

The unofficial numbers are in but there are still provisional votes that need to be counted.

Bond says,"if they weren't at their home precincts or out of the parish those will be counted by the board on Friday, then we will add those to the tally that we already have, on Tuesday when we finish and that's when the official returns will be in."

Once the official numbers come in, Bond says they just have to start the process all over again for Monroe City Council District 3 runoff election.
