Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall arrives in Monroe

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall has arrived in Monroe.

The exhibit is being set up at the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum. It opens this Friday and continues until November 14, next Wednesday.

A Patriotic Parade kicks off at the Monroe Regional Airport scheduled to start at 9:30 in the morning Friday. Special guest, Sammy Davis, who's a Medal of Honor recipient and a Vietnam veteran will be riding in a vintage military vehicle. There will also be other guests along with music from several high school bands.

The opening ceremony kicks off an hour later at 10:30 Friday morning. That will be held at the museum.

The wall will be staffed with security all day and night.

There's a Veterans Day Ceremony Sunday at 3 in the afternoon followed by a dinner for relatives and veterans.

The exhibit ends next week Wednesday with a closing ceremony scheduled to start at 4 in the afternoon at the museum.
