TENSAS PARISH, La., (KNOE 8 News) - An oil well has blown up in Tensas Parish, seriously injuring two Chess Oil employees.
According to Tensas Parish Sheriff Ricky Jones, the two employees were in the process of closing the well when vapors apparently bubbled to the surface and were then set off by a pumper truck nearby.
The two injured employees were taken to a Jackson, Mississippi hospital with what was termed as serious burns. One had been blown off the platform, the other was in the pumper truck, when the explosion occurred.
The well is located in the Buckhorn Wildlife Management Area off Louisiana Highway 128 in Tensas Parish.
