Long lines, no problem

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The results are in.

"I think it's really long but it's worth the wait," Erica Craighead said.

Voters are not speaking about the election, but about the time spent waiting to cast a ballot. Craighead is taking it one step at a time.

"You can't have an opinion unless you vote," Craighead said.

Craighead and others turned out to Jack Hayes Elementary in Monroe to vote. Patience had to be a virtue here, even for the little ones. Some voters brought their children for the ride one man says not many get to go on.

"So many people have sacrificed to give you the opportunity to vote. They'll never be able to vote, some of them never even will be returned home," Earl Hodgkins said.

The younger crowd is waiting to weigh in on this election.

"It's a very long wait, so I know I'm doing it for a good cause. So, I'm trying to do my part and just vote," Teelah Rawls said.

And some are standing at the polling site because of the too close to call race to the white house, that ended with President Obama winning re-election.

"I think it's very important, I need to know that I contributed to who's our president," Melissa Simmons said.

It may be a rather lengthy wait time but for Craighead she's feeling a friendly environment next to the people who are feet away from entering a booth.

"I think everybody's being good and supportive about it and happy that they're doing it," she said.

After the long line, voters simply had to wait for the election results.
