MONROE, La.  (KNOE 8 News) - With the long lines, it begs the question, are more voters turning out this year than in past presidential elections.

Ouachita Parish Clerk of Court, Louise Bond says, "that lets us know that the people are getting out to vote, and I do hope that everyone will be patient with our commissioners they are doing everything they can to try and get out in and out as fast as they can."

This election day has been filled with long lines, high voter turnout, and no problems so far!

Bond says everything is running smoothly and she expects that trend to continue throughout the rest of the evening.

There haven't been any problems reported from the polls, which has helped the lines move along quickly.

Bond wants to remind those of you who haven't yet voted, to familiarize yourself with the ballot before you head into the booth.

She believes this years turnout will be better than before.

Bond says, "I'm just basing this off of early voting, we had over 12,000 in person, you know so I think people are very concerned about this election and they are wanting to get out and cast their vote."

Bond wants to remind everyone to make sure they are in line before 8 so they can vote.
