MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The election is only a day away and the presidential candidates are still hot on the campaign trail. President Obama made stops in several battleground states this weekend telling supporters the decision is in their hands. Republican hopeful Mitt Romney also rallied in several states, including Ohio. ULM's Joshua Stockley who serves a political analyst said that battleground state means a lot in the final days of campaigning.
"The most important state is Ohio," Stockley said. "No Republican has ever gone to the White House without the state of Ohio. Ohio has correctly predicted the winner in the last straight 12 contest. So, all eyes are on Ohio. It's worth 18 electoral votes."
Vice Presidential candidates were also campaigning in Ohio over the weekend, hoping to clinch those last few undecided voters.
The important battleground state is pretty much a toss-up. A new CNN/ORC international poll shows President Obama holds a three point lead over Mitt Romney among likely voters in Ohio.
