Kids trade in Halloween candy for toys

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Kids are trading in their Halloween treats for toys are Kool Smiles on Louisville Avenue.

Children are stopping by Kool Smiles to drop off their stock piles of candy in exchange for toys. The candy is to be sent overseas to the troops to remind them of home "sweet" home. The dentists hope this will be a nice treat for our military men and women, but also serve as a teaching tool for kids.

"What we are doing is giving children the opportunity to bring in 25 unopened pieces of candy in exchange for a toy," says Dr. Ashlee Franklin, "we are trying to show our support for troops overseas, as well as letting the kids know that they are able to bring in candy to increase their healthy smiles."

Operation Treats for Troops will end Saturday, November 3, at Kool Smiles at 2820 Louisville Avenue in Monroe.
