WEST MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - An Amber alert which began in Texas, ended in West Monroe overnight.
An East Texas man has now been charged with killing his ex-wife, Jelena Sriraman, and snatching their 4-year-old son. Apparently once he had the child, James Calvert drove from Tyler to West Monroe where he was arrested after a car chase with police.
Tyler police early formally announced the West Monroe arrest of James Calvert this morning on a capital murder warrant. His son, Lucas, was found unharmed in a car seat after a police chase that led to the vehicle wrecking.
An Amber Alert was issued for the boy Wednesday afternoon after his mother was found shot to death in Tyler.
West Monroe Police say Calvert fled a traffic stop around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in West Monroe. Officers recovered two guns from the car.
