Election Testing - What You Need to Know

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Election day is drawing near, and the state of Louisiana is doing last minute preparations to make sure everything runs smoothly.

While voters are making their last minute decisions, Louisiana is testing their servers.

Ouachita Parish Clerk of Court, Louise Bond, says testing like this is important, "their server may not be large enough to hold everything at one time, so I think that they've made some adjustments and that's what they are trying to do is to make sure they are going to be able to handle it."

Bond says they are getting packets together for their pre-election school tomorrow, "we give the oath to the commissioner in charge, then we tell them a little about what's going to be on the ballot."

So what should we, the voters know before heading to the polls?

Bond says, "bring their photo ID, please bring that, your registration, you know you're voters registration card too if you have that, but most importantly bring that photo ID."

She says since there was such a high turn out for early voting the lines will hopefully be shorter at the polls this year, but she says there are things voters can do before to help the process go faster.

Bond says, "it would really help especially on the constitutional amendments if the people would read up on it and kind of know how they want to vote before they actually go into the voting machine, it'll cut down on some time."

She also has a reminder for anyone who is disabled, "anyone who is handicap or physically disabled we do allow them to go to the front of the line to vote."

Bond says the polls will be opened Tuesday from 6:00 am until 8:00 PM.
