MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Homeowners in South Monroe are spending the weekend offering their neighbors a helping hand. Residents are hard at work cleaning up yards and tossing out the litter.
Neighbors near a home on the 4,000 block of Lee Avenue cleared away several bags of leaves and tree limbs. The homeowner says he's hoping the clean yards will cast a better light on South Monroe.
"I believe this is going to be a start, a lot of my neighbors, I talked to one this (Saturday) morning, he's starting to get ready to clean up his yard on the side of me and that's a positive thing and I believe it will be," Rev. James Williams said.
More work is on the way helping out Williams. Crews say they'll return Sunday to help the homeowner clean continue to clean up his property.
