WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A country legend is in Monroe for a benefit concert at the Civic Center for PAWS or the Pet Assistance Welfare Society. A Ferriday native, Mickey Gilley has had 17 number one songs in the country music charts. He's got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and famous cousins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Jimmie Swagart. Gilley may have made it big, but he is still finding the time to visit his home state of Louisiana  for a good cause.

"We decided we'd do my life story in music starting back in the 50s, all the way through the peak of my career in the 80s," Gilley said. "And its to benefit the spaying and neutering of animals who are homeless and are left for no adoption that type of thing."

You can check out concert dates on Mickey Gilley's facebook page: Click here or follow him on twitter @MickeyGilley1.
