WEST MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) – The West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce has announced that former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards will be the guest speaker at the Chamber of Commerce's Annual Banquet on Dec. 10.
The Chamber of Commerce's Annual Banquet will be held at the West Monroe Convention Center at 901 Ridge Avenue in West Monroe.
The keynote speaker for the Banquet is former Louisiana Governor Edwin Washington Edwards. A Crowley, La. Native, he was first elected governor in 1972, re-elected in 1976, elected to a third term in 1984 and a fourth term in 1992. He is the only person ever elected more than twice and only four-term governor.
During the Banquet, the 2013 Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Officers will be introduced as well as the recipient of the A.O. Evans Award. The A.O. Evans Award is presented annually to an individual residing in West Ouachita for outstanding contributions to the community. The first-ever Entrepreneurial Success Award will also be presented to a business that started small but grew large under the same leadership.
