MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Many first-time voters from ULM are heading to the polls this November. Dozens were on hand for a debate watch party. The students got the chance to hear what President Obama and Governor Romney had to say on their foreign policy plan. Political Science Professor Joshua Stockley said typically college students or other voters are not completely tuned in to a debate about international issues.
"Foreign policy is not, historically, the primary reason why people vote," Stockley said. "It's all about the United States, it's all about the economy, our employment, our budget, our deficits, our policies, that's going to be the reason one of these two individuals wins."
The professor said the incumbent came out on top in this debate. He believes its because the president has more hands on experience with the international audience.
