MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Capital One bank volunteers are building houses this week.

For this week, Capital One Bank associates are banding together as part of the company's national associate volunteer initiative.

In Louisiana, more than 500 volunteers this week are expected to spend more than 2,500 hours partnering with area non-profits to serve their various communities.

One of the thrusts of this effort is assisting with the construction of affordable housing for local families in need, with Habitat for Humanity of Ouachita. Habitat for Humanity works to provide simple, decent and affordable housing to low-income families. These houses are then sold at no profit.
