WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman Billy Hance has now issued the following statement on the audit report:
"The report speaks for itself. As you can see, the board took prompt action to handle the matter at hand. There could have been misunderstanding on somebody's part, but we've moved forward, acted promptly, restitution was made and there was no loss incurred by the West Monroe West Ouachita Chamber."

ORIGINAL STORY REPORTED MONDAY NIGHT
A new financial audit report may provide answers as to why West Monroe's former Chamber of Commerce President suddenly quit in May.
Auditors say an employee used the chamber credit card to fill his gas tank without permission and charged one thousand dollars for personal expenses. The chamber board told auditors, it was former president Paul Hargrove who misappropriated the money. Hargrove was only president for less than a year when he resigned suddenly without reason five months ago.
Since the problems were uncovered, the board says they have tightened their internal credit policy.
