Walking Across The Country For "The Eden Plan"

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - One man is walking from one coast to the other for a good cause, hoping to raise awareness and money for those in need.

Bryan Hein began his adventure September first.

Hein has been walking 45 days, already gone though 2 pair of shoes so far, and still has a long way to go before he reaches the Santa Monica Pier in California.

Hein says, "you get up, you eat and you walk, and it's a lot of eaten and walking and saying hi and meeting a lot of great new people, we've met some wonderful people along the way."

Hein started walking from Cocoa Beach Pier in Florida, and it's all to raise money and awareness for a non-profit organization started by him and his wife, called The Eden Plan.

Hein says, "it's gears towards helping the less fortunate, we believe it's a little different from some of the things that we're doing now a days it will directly put the tools and ability in the hands of those people who are in need to help themselves."

Hein started the journey carrying everything on his back, 45 pounds, including a child size tent to sleep in at night.

Hein says, "I didn't fit all that well my feet were hitting one edge of the tent my head the other, and that went on for almost a month and then my wife joined me on this trip and now we are living out of our van which we converted into a mobile home."

Hein says he hopes his walk encourages other people to get involved.
