MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Heartbeat Monroe's Suicide Awareness Walk gets postponed due to rain, but families still honor their loved ones.

The annual Suicide Awareness Walk at Kiroli Park was schedule for Sunday, but due to the weather it was postponed. Heartbeat Monroe is a support group for families affected by suicide.

One mother drove to West Monroe for Missouri for the walk in honor of her son, Scott Stegall.

"He loved music. He loved playing his guitar," says Paula Hawken.

After sending goodbye messages to each of his family members, Stegall committed suicide on April 20, 2010.

Soon after the tragedy, Paula Hawken and her parents, Paul and Betty Solice, joined the Heartbeat Monroe support group. By hearing the stories of others, Stegall's family is healing. Now, they are helping other families that need the support.
