Results in on investigation into police dog's death

MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - "Mies" a police dog was found dead in early September in Monroe, but the cause of death has been under investigation.

The results of that necropsy are in and the official report's diagnosis is "undetermined cause of death". The report. But Monroe Police Chief Quentin Holmes says he suspects that the four year old dog died from injuries suffered in a car crash when it was slammed up against its back seat kennel.

At the time, the K-9 was in the care of former officer Kenneth Johnson who was subsequently arrested for theft and possession of "meth".

A memorial service has been scheduled for the dog on November 7th at 10am at the Downtown Police Department location.
