MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - The city announced that the current installation status is still at about 90% on the new automated members. Installations are now focusing on previously unaccessible meters and meters which couldn't be replaced in earlier attempts for various other reasons.
The City's meter installation company, Vanguard Utility Service, Inc has now replaced 20,368 of the 22,575 meters (90%) as of this week.
In the next two weeks, Vanguard will be working in various neighborhoods throughout Monroe.
All residents will receive a notice when Vanguard is going to be in their area to upgrade their meter. All Vanguard employees will be dressed in uniform and have a photo ID. Each vehicle will also be marked with the Vanguard logo, for ease of identification.
Vanguard will leave an orange door hanger indicating that residents' meters have been swapped or was inaccessible/ unable to be replaced. If the notice indicates the meter was inaccessible/ unable to be replaced, residents should call the contact number on the notice to make an appointment to upgrade their meter as soon as possible. All residents will have their meters upgraded before the end of the project.
Meters may be inaccessible due to but not limited to one of the following reasons:
· Dog · Locked gate · Meter is blocked by vehicles or other objects · Obstructed view · Shrubs and plants need to be trimmed · Unsafe for meter installers to access
Residents should avoid blocking the access to their water meter as this will delay their meter upgrade.
The meter change out takes approximately 30 minutes for each customer. Water usage will cease during the 30 minute installation period.
For meter installation concerns, please contact Vanguard's Project Manager Tony Howell at (318) 807-5423 or email at thowell@vusinc.com.
