ULM Anti-Cancer Patent

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The United States Patent and Trademark Office awarded professors at ULM's College of Pharmacy another patent for potentially life-saving anti-cancer research.

Professor of Pharmacy Doctor Paul Sylvester says they've found a way to take natural Vitamin E and developed potent anti-cancer agents.

He says the compounds and methods in the patent have the potential to save and/or prolong lives through anticancer treatments.

Sylvester says these compounds show significant potentials for use in the treatment of breast cancer, "we're working with an Australian company for commercialization and to hopefully get these things into clinical trails and move everything forward."

Sylvester says the professors at ULM have been working on this patent for around ten years.

This is the fourth patent awarded to the college.
