FEMA deadline approaching

BATON ROUGE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - RPA requests for aid from FEMA deadlines are coming quickly over the next few days.

The deadlines are for the state and its agencies, local governments, certain private nonprofit organizations and federally recognized tribal governments to submit a Request for Public Assistance (RPA) from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The deadlines coming up are:

Oct. 12: Acadia, Allen, Avoyelles, Cameron, Iberia, Jefferson Davis, Natchitoches, Ouachita, Rapides and West Baton Rouge.

Oct. 13: Caldwell, Claiborne, Concordia, East Carroll, Evangeline, Jackson, La Salle, Lincoln, Madison, Richland, Tensas and West Carroll.

Deadline to submit RPAs for emergency protective measures:

Oct. 13: Beauregard, Bossier and Caddo.

Deadlines to submit RPAs for all categories of work are:

Oct. 12: Assumption, East Feliciana, Iberville, Lafourche, Orleans, Pointe Coupee, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne and Washington.

Oct. 21: Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Jefferson, Livingston, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. John and West Feliciana.

Oct. 31: Catahoula, Franklin, Lafayette, Morehouse, St. Landry, St. Martin, Union and Vermillion.

Supplemental funding under FEMA's Public Assistance program is provided to the state and then forwarded to its eligible agencies, local governments, certain private nonprofit organizations and federally recognized tribal governments. Under the program, FEMA obligates funds to the state for 75 percent of eligible costs, while the applicant covers the remaining 25 percent.
