DUI checkpoints planned for West Monroe

Posted: Updated:

WEST MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - West Monroe police will be out checking for drivers who are less than sober Friday, October 12 and Friday, October 19.

The goal of the checkpoint will be to intercept impaired drivers and get them off the road before they have a chance to cause injury to themselves, their passengers, or members of the public.

With statistics showing that almost half of all fatal accidents involve impaired drivers, these checkpoints have become a major emphasis of all area law enforcement groups, and the Monroe Police Department. The University of Louisiana at Monroe Police Department will also be involved in these scheduled checkpoints.
