Womack now heavy favorite in Arkansas race

ROGERS, Ar., (KNOE 8 News) - U.S. Rep. Steve Womack is now expected to win re-election in northwest Arkansas' 3rd Congressional District after the Democratic challenger dropped out of the race amid questions about his military record.

Womack says he hasn't seen signs of much of a campaign from Green Party candidate Rebekah Kennedy or Libertarian Party candidate David Pangrac ahead of the Nov. 6 election.

Democrat Ken Aden abandoned his bid for the congressional seat this summer after the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported military records and statements from officials contradicted his claim that he was a U.S. Army Special Forces soldier.

Womack, a Republican, is a former Rogers mayor. He beat out a former assistant city attorney in Fayetteville in 2010 to win the seat that opened up when then U.S. Rep. John Boozman launched his Senate bid.
