MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Goodwill Industries of North Louisiana has launched the Youth Employment Services Program (YES), which prepares at-risk youth for the world of work and independent living.

The program provides job readiness and life skills training, financial management training, mentoring services, job placement and retention services, career exploration and job coaching to participants of the program.

Goodwill staff will teach the participants  how to seek employment, correctly fill out job applications and create resumes, navigate interviews, resolve transportation issues and obtain bus passes, find appropriate clothing and uniforms and obtain a photo ID.

Once the youth are placed in a job, they will receive individualized job retention services for at least 90 days that is designed to help them retain their job. The YES program provides an alternative route that will encourage youth to pursue conventional adulthood while equipping them with the marketable skills and work ethic that will make them attractive to future employers, creating a culture of self-sufficiency and independence.

Individuals interested in participating in the Youth Employment Services Program should contact Rosalyn Delton, Youth Employment Specialist, at (318) 868-4701. Additional information is available at the GINLA Job Centers.  This program is funded through a grant by the Grayson Foundation.
