WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The 8th Annual Northeast Louisiana Celtic Festival brings international bands to Kiroli Park.

Doyle Jeter founded the Celtic Festival 8 years ago, and is proud to call Kiroli Park it's new home.

"It's a great, great day of music, crafts, vendors, food, and lots of kids activities," says Jeter.

People from across the ArkLaMiss travel to the Twin Cities each year for the day-long festivities, and Jeter says the entertainment travels even farther.

"We have people from Ireland that come over every year and play," says Jeter, "and we've had some of the top Celtic entertainers in the world.

One group of kilt-wearing men from Shreveport have come all 8 years.

"We usually start it for them, and play the pipes a little bit so people get a flavor of the ancient music as well as the new stuff," says James T. Parker of the Red River Pipes and Drums.

Parker and the other band members say it's important to learn about our heritage and celebrate it at events like the Celtic Festival.
