MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A freshman was shot at while driving on Delta Community College Campus, and now police are searching for the shooter. Police think it was either a pellet gun or a B.B. gun that was used.

Erik Risdale was hit with the unexpected on his way to class Thursday afternoon, gun fire.

Risdale says, "makes you a little uncomfortable now, a little scared to go to school."

He is a freshman at Delta Community College and still isn't sure if he's the victim of random shots fired, or if he was targeted.

Risdale says, "I think it was more random but then again they could have aimed for me on purpose, and had a reason to or something."

It wasn't fired once, but twice, one hit the rear passenger window, the other the passenger side door.

When Risdale's parents finally arrived and they saw the damage they were just thankful he was okay.

Erik's father, Larry Risdale says, "it looks as if the person was aimed at the passenger side window and the car was moving so it actually hit the back glass fortunate for that but it could've gone through the side glass and hit him."

Although police say this is the first time anything like this has happened, Risdale says it's still concerning; "since I won't be driving this until we get it fixed hopefully I'll be okay for now."

Risdale says he plans on attending class Monday.

If you have any information that may help assist the investigation, you're asked to call the Delta Community College Police Department at 345-9105.
