Saturday morning, October 6, during its 16th annual "Bark in the Park" festivities put on by the Ouachita River Valley Animal League, there will be a blessing of the pets.

Sunday, October 7, St. Francis Medical Center is celebrating the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi with the annual Blessing of the Pets from 3 - 4 p.m. in Anna Gray Noe Park across from the main entrance of the hospital. The event is open to the public. Pet owners are asked that pets are leashed or secured for the protection of their pet and other pets at the park.

An interesting side-note, St. Francis of Assisi, founder of the Franciscan order, is the Patron saint of animals and the ecology.
