RUSTON, La., (KNOE 8 News) - The first of 25 free hazard mitigation and business preparedness workshops slated to begin next week--the first will be in Ruston, the second in Monroe.
The workshops, named Ready to Resume, will focus in informing businesses and non-profit organizations about the hazards they face and how to protect their business from the next disaster or business interruption. These hazards may range from severe weather to man-made incidents such as hazardous material releases, and may include everyday accidents that are an inevitable part of business operations. In order for these organizations to not become a victim to the inevitable, Stephenson Disaster Management Institute (SDMI) and Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) have launched this proactive campaign designed to help businesses become better prepared.
The first half of the Ready to Resume workshops classes is in Ruston on October 8, then it moves to Monroe the next day on the 9th, and Bossier/Shreveport on the 10th. Workshops will also be held during October and November in DeRidder, Winnfield, Alexandria, Opelousas, New Iberia, Morgan City, Lake Charles, and Thibodaux. More cities and workshops will be scheduled for the beginning of 2013.
