EPPS, La. (KNOE 8 News) - At least 20 Department of Corrections officers conducted a major shakedown at the West Carroll Detention Center near Epps, Louisiana, looking for contraband. In addition, prisoners were tested for drugs. The center is operated by Emerald Prison Enterprises.

School buses were brought to the facility and used to transport prisoners testing positive for drugs or found to have contraband, to Hunt Correctional in the southern part of the state.

At Noon Thursday, two buses had been backed up to the facility a number of prisoners, as many as 50, had been moved into an area where they could be put on the buses and taken to Angola.

This is the second facility owned by Emerald to go through a shakedown. The last one was in August of this year at the Riverbend Detention Center where approximately half of the prison population was moved to Angola.
