LINCOLN PARISH, La., (KNOE 8 News) - The Lincoln Parish Fire Department responded to two separate structure fires in less than 6 hours on Tuesday.
The first fire was reported on Bennett Road in Grambling late Tuesday afternoon. The Grambling Fire Department requested mutual aid assistance from the Lincoln Parish Fire Department in combating the fire at 141 Bennett Road. This fire was found to be in a vacant single story wood frame residential structure. Personnel from both Grambling Fire Department and Lincoln Parish Fire Department entered the residence and found heavy smoke and fire inside the structure. The structure sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire was not determined at the time of the fire, but is believed to be suspicious in nature as the structure was unoccupied and there were no utilities connected to it.
Monday night, a second fire was reported at 248 Jackson Road south of Simsboro in a single story residential structure. The first LPFD unit to arrive on the scene reported heavy smoke coming from the structure. LPFD personnel entered the residence and found fire and smoke in the general area of a laundry room. The occupants of the residence reported that they heard a loud popping sound and found the laundry room on fire. LPFD personnel prevented the fire from spreading to other areas of the residence. The laundry room area sustained heavy fire damage, while other parts of the residence received significant smoke damage. None of the occupants of this residence were injured.
