FARMERVILLE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Two area men have been arrested, accused of stealing items from two work trucks and a trailer parked in a yard.
Lance Brian Murphrey, 33, of 395 Lockwood Rd., Farmerville, and Clermon D. Morris, 48, of 1507 Hinton St., West Monroe, were booked into the parish detention center on two counts of simple burglary of a motor vehicle, conspiracy to commit simple burglary, felony theft and conspiracy to commit felony theft.
Murphrey was additionally charged with attempted unauthorized entry into an inhabited dwelling and Morris with possession of drug paraphernalia. Murphrey's total bond is $38,500 and Morris' was set at $28,750.
Deputies reported that two women living on Stansbury Road near the Sardis community south of Farmerville reported a burglary in progress about 12:07 a.m. Monday. They reported seeing two men with flashlights going through two Copeland Electric Trucks and a work trailer parked in their yard.
Deputies said that when they arrived on the scene they found Morris in his pickup truck. They said the woman told them that the other man ran into a wooded area. Deputies recovered nearly $7,500 in material taken from the trucks and trailer.
Later in the morning, deputies were called back to the scene where they said they found Murphrey under the back porch. Apparently he had tried to enter the front and back doors of the house before deputies arrived.
