Alabama fan gets two years

Posted: Updated:

NEW ORLEANS, La., (KNOE 8 News) - The Alabama fan accused of hazing an apparently unconscious LSU fan following the NCAA championship game this past January has pled guilty to the charges arising from the incident.

32-year-old Brian Downing pled guilty to obscenity charges. He'd been videotaped during the incident, a videotape that went viral on the Internet. The tape apparently shows Downing performing an indecent act on the unconscious LSU fan.

Brian Downing, 32, pleaded guilty to obscenity charges in the case involving a videotaped hazing of an LSU fan who was apparently passed out. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison, with a judicial recommendation he be sent to a penal "boot camp".

The incident occurred at a Bourbon Street restaurant after Bama beat LSU in the national championship game in January.

Downing had claimed he was innocent, when he turned himself in to New Orleans police.

His trial, originally set for last month, was postponed because of Hurricane Isaac.
