MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The family of a missing Alabama man is asking for your help in finding their loved one.
Nicholas Jones,20, was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and khaki pants last Tuesday. Jones left his home in Auburn, Alabama, on September 25th, and never came home.
Alabama deputies say Jones may be in the Bayou State. Jones is about 6 feet, 2 inches, nearly 200 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair and his right hand is injured.
Deputies say he may be going by "Jobe Williams."
Cindy and Percy Jones, his parents, say they have to reason to believe their son has made his way to Monroe.
Attala County Sheriff's Department says his truck was found abandoned on September 28th, and the next day he was spotted entering Louisiana.
"He probably appears just fine in a way, but he's sort of driven just to wander right now," says Percy Jones. The family says their son has a history of mental illness, and a severely injured right hand. Jones' parents are checking shelters for Nicholas, but organizations like the Salvation Army can't give them an answer.
"We are not allowed to say whether they're here or not but what we can say is that if they do show up, we can deliver a message," says Lt. Jerry Williams.
Privacy policies restrict some shelters from sharing information, but Lt. Williams says if Nicholas were to show up, the police will know.
"Now through our background check that we do to allow you to stay in our facility, the police do a background check on the individual."
Williams says the police will then notify the Jones family. Cindy and Percy Jones are on the way to Shreveport next, then on to Texas.
If you have any information on the whereabouts of Nicholas Jones, you are urged to contact the police.
