Churches team up for the future

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Dozens are ready to take on the working world. Three Monroe churches have crossed denominations in an effort to prepare their congregations for the future. Many children and adults have new skills in balancing their wallets and new job training knowledge. The next seminar similar to this one, will be for those getting out of jail.

"two of the other initiatives we want to work on are dealing with those persons that have been in prison and to stop the killing," Riverside Baptist Church Pastor Clarence Jackson said.

The mayor of Monroe also spoke out to motivate event goers.

"You've got a number of folks that are here, so I want to commend the community," Mayor Jamie Mayo said. "For coming out because that's very, very important as we look at our community and how we help our young people and give back."

The three involved are Zion Springs Baptist Church, Riverside Baptist Church and Power House Church of God and Christ. They're all located on Powell Avenue.
