MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The century old organization, Girl Scouts, is making a change in requirements for participants.
Leaders in Monroe say they may need to order more badges, after the national organization is allowing girls to join the Girl Scouts without being members of a troop. The new program is called "pathways" and for just $12 a year, girls can participate in dozens of fun activities.
Leaders of the Monroe troop say this will allow hundreds of busy little girls to join without the demanding schedule of being a trooper.
"We have different events that we offer throughout the year," says Megan Hodge, "they can pick and chose which events to come to if they don't want to commit to a troop. They can just come whenever they want to."
Tonight at 9pm the Girl Scouts of Monroe are hosting a recruiting event at the Pecanland Mall.
