Race for the Cure

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Over 4,300 supporters attended the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure at Forsythe Park Saturday.

Thousands of runners participated in the 5k fundraiser to bring awareness  to breast cancer. There was an overwhelming turn out as there were hundreds more than last year's race.

Survivors joined together to celebrate their battles and remember those lost to breast cancer. Tulip-shaped yard signs were decorated and "planted" in honor of the men and women who have been affected by the disease.

Sponsor's from across the ArkLaMiss set up booths with fun and informative activities for visitors, and like any great event, food was on the grill.

Race for the Cure Co-Chair Becky Tripp says "We have made a record-breaking year and we are so excited and thankful to everyone who came out and made this possible."
