MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Since breaking ground Monroe's River Market has already spurred downtown development.
Now, directors are putting the finishing touches on the project with an October 13th deadline looming.
There are a few things you should know before coming!
First where can you park?
River Market Director, Myra Gatling says, "Desiard Street behind Washington Plaza or across from Advantage Staffing, this will be a trolley stop as well as the Civic Center parking area, the trolley will be passing through every 15 minutes to pick up people or take people back to their cars."
Gatling says the trolley ride and parking will be free for everyone.
She also says the city council has passed an open container law that will only apply to the River Market, "we will have spirits available throughout here on the market at the premises only."
They will also have security working to keep everyone safe, "security will be here from seven to four everyday we will have two officers here on duty."
Gatling says they are still looking for volunteers and new vendors.
If you are interested you can contact them through their website www.downtownrivermarket.com.
