MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Some parents are now better prepared to keep the kids safe while on the pavement. Louisiana State Police officers are helping parents strap in their children correctly. Saturday, officers were on hand at the Monroe Target, to trash expired booster seats and install new ones for the little ones. Parents say they recommend moms and dads double check their installation procedures with the experts.
"It was shocking to me because I thought I always had it right but I didn't know that they weren't," Deonne Jordan said.
"Even though we take a four to five day class to become technicians but unfortunately, you don't become a parent and automatically know how to install a child seat," Lt. Julie Lewis said.
State police said having the right child seat along with everyone buckling up, may be able to save lives in the event of a crash.
