Bash on the Bayou: KNOE 8 News and KNOE 8 Sports cover everything to do with the ULM v Baylor game happening September 21th.
Monroe, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Cables winding around Malone Stadium on the ULM campus will be feeding power to eight or nine ESPN cameras.
Working crews told KNOE 8 News that those cameras will be spread throughout the stadium, with the announcer booth set up in the boxes above around the 50-yard line.
Pre-production will last until 7:00 Thursday night with massive generators running more than 40 hours to power it all.
Crews also said Malone Stadium doesn't have enough lighting for HD broadcasts, so a lighting company brought in more.
Amidst all of these changes around the stadium, changes have been happening for the school itself.
"Our bookstore sales for clothingware is up 300-and-something percent over the last two weeks," ULM President, Nick Bruno, said.
ULM freshman enrollment is already up 10% from 2011 and since the football team's success, their word is spreading farther.
"I just received an E-mail from a young woman in Mobile (Alabama). She wants to know about ULM," Bruno said.
As ESPN completes their changes around the stadium, Bruno is happy to see a positive change amongst ULM students.
"You walk the bridge to get to the cafeteria and you see so many students in their maroon and gold or their white," he said. "They're smiling. Students here are happy. They're excited about being part of ULM. They're glad they made the decision."
